DESCRIPTION
The Dolman Dress & Tunic is a relaxed fit pattern intended for knit fabrics. Elastic or a full fabric fabric waistband cinches in the underbust & waist, and the generous dolman sleeves make this breastfeeding-friendly. Flutter sleeve option makes this even more flowy and will accomodate nursing with larger busts. It comes in a banded crop top or 3 hemmed lenghts: tunic, knee-length dress, and a gathered tiered midi dress. This dress can be sewn on a sewing machine or a serger, but does require a sewing machine and/or coverstitch machine for hemming and topstitching.
SIZING
The pattern comes in sizes 2-30 and in 3 different heights. Petite (5’1”- 5’3”), Regular (5’4”- 5’6”) and Tall (5’7”-5’9”). For the best fit, take current measurements and compare against the size chart. If in between sizes, you can size down for a better fit now or size up for room to grow.
RECOMMENDED FABRICS
You will need a 50% 4-way stretch knit. This means the fabric must stretch vertically as well as horizontally. Some fabric suppliers list the % of stretch in a fabric’s description, but it is easy to determine this yourself.
Hold 4” of your knit fabric against the start of a ruler. When you stretch it out, each inch past the initial 4” is 25% of stretch. For this pattern, you want at least 2” (50%) of additional stretch in both directions.
**This pattern is best suited for drapey fabric such as Rayon Spandex, Bamboo Spandex, and lightweight Cotton Lycra.. Since these lighter weight fabrics have less recovery, I recommend adding clear elastic to the shoulder seams to avoid stretching out over time.**
FILES– You will be able to download the printable sewing pattern and instructions you can then print at home on US letter 8.5×11” or A4 paper (you will not receive a physical copy of the pattern). This also includes a Projector file and an A0 Printshop file. You will need a PDF viewer (the free version of Adobe is recommended).
