DESCRIPTION
The Radiant Raglan is a semi-fitted style pattern intended for stable knit fabrics. Includes a standard Raglan Sleeve or a Ruched Shoulder Sleeve option with elastic in the center. Sleeves can be hemmed short or long, or be made long with a cuff.. Bodice can be made Solid, Color Blocked, or with Side Nursing Access and an underlayer! It comes in a curved hemmed top & tunic length. Relaxed fit at waist & hips. This pattern can be sewn on a sewing machine or a serger, but does require a sewing machine and/or coverstitch machine for attaching the elastic, hemming and topstitching. See video tutorial here.
SIZING
The pattern comes in sizes 2-30 and in 3 different heights. Petite (5’1”- 5’3”), Regular (5’4”- 5’6”) and Tall (5’7”-5’9”). For the best fit, take current measurements and compare against the size chart. If in between sizes, size down. If a more fitted garment is desired, size down (see finished measurements).
RECOMMENDED FABRICS
You will need a stable knit with at least 50% horizontal 50% vertical stretch for the main garment. The bands and cuff require at least 50% horizontal stretch. Some fabric suppliers list the % of stretch in a fabric’s description, but it is easy to determine this yourself.
Hold 4” of your knit fabric against the start of a ruler. When you stretch it out, each inch past the initial 4” is 25% of stretch. For this pattern, you want at least 1” (25%) of additional stretch vertically (parallel to the selvage) and about 1 5/8 ” horizontally.
**This pattern is best suited for Cotton Lycra, lighter Sweater Knits. DBP, Rib Knit, Waffle, or Rayon Spandex. **
FILES– You will be able to download the printable sewing pattern and instructions you can then print at home on US letter 8.5×11” or A4 paper (you will not receive a physical copy of the pattern). This also includes a Projector file and an A0 Printshop file. You will need a PDF viewer (the free version of Adobe is recommended).
