Description

Your new favorite sewing pattern for nursing and beyond! This DIY nursing dress PDF pattern is loaded with style options and comes with detailed step-by-step instructions to help you sew your own wardrobe. Check out our other breastfeeding friendly patterns here.

DESCRIPTION– The Dolman Knot Dress & Tunic is a semi-fitted style pattern intended for knit fabrics. Includes a nursing option with a hidden banded opening underneath and a closed non-nursing option as well! It comes in 3 hemmed lengths: tunic, and knee-length dress, and maxi dress. There are options for hemmed short sleeves & long sleeves, banded long sleeves, or a bishop sleeve. Choose between the fitted skirt (with ruched maternity front option) or A-line skirt. Optional in-seam pockets add functionality. This dress can be sewn on a sewing machine or a serger, but does require a sewing machine and/or coverstitch machine for hemming, gathering (maternity option), and topstitching (required for the facing).

Watch the video tutorial!

SIZING– The pattern comes in sizes 2-30. For the best fit, take current measurements and compare against the size chart. If in between sizes, you can size down for a better fit now or size up for room to grow. Includes 3 different height files. Petite for 5’1″ to 5’3″, Regular for 5’4″ to 5’6″, Tall for 5’7″ to 5’9″.

FABRIC– Requires approximately 1- 3 & 3/8 yards of a stretch knit with 50% vertical & horizontal stretch (Cotton Lycra, Brushed Polyester Spandex, Rayon Spandex, and Bamboo Spandex will work great). If you do use a lightweight fabric, such as Rayon Spandex, I recommend adding clear elastic to the shoulder & skirt band seams to avoid stretching out over time.

FILES– You will be able to download the printable sewing pattern and instructions you can then print at home on US letter 8.5×11” or A4 paper (you will not receive a physical copy of the pattern). This also includes a Projector file and an A0 Printshop file. You will need a PDF viewer (the free version of Adobe is recommended).

You may sell items made from this pattern, but you may not distribute the pattern (please respect my hours of work and refer your friends and family to purchase this listing). I also ask that you do not use my images.

3 reviews for Dolman Knot Nursing Dress & Tunic

Very clear instructions and size inclusive outfit! I’ve made the top and the dress and love the long length top and the dress length as they are, no alterations needed. The pockets are brilliant too, will be making more.

Really lovely and flattering, this is the only ZLP I needed to grade due to the way the nursing access is and my funny size – I’m personally not the best when it comes to grading but Sarah was quick to help me out with it.
When I made the first one in a straight size it was incredibly easy to do, graded took me a minute to visualise, however once I got started there was no issue and I quickly felt less intimidated (I’m one who likes to follow patterns to a ‘T’ ?)
I’d say good for confident beginner, as always, there’s a Facebook group always happy to help if you do happen to get stuck, either way, the outcome is worth it, love this one!

Great pattern! I made a variety of nursing shirts with various patterns for a friend and she said this one is her favorite as it has the easiest and quickest nursing access. It’s super cute too! I made one for myself too and just altered the knot to be a bow instead using the idea/instructions from a Facebook member. Great pattern!
